Web design and development is very creative and satisfying work. It is creative because the interfaces add many demensions (sound, graphics, interactiveness) than the text-based interfaces I used to design and build as a mainframe programmer. It is satisfying work because there is no greater pleasure for me than to see a user easily accomplish his/her task or find the information they need. This is FUN work!
I am a career mainframe analyst/programmer with over twenty-five years of experience. In recent years, I have been self-training myself in the use of HTML, DHTML, XHTML, XML, XSLT, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Linux OS, graphics, photo enhancement and content management systems. I also have special interests in digital photograpy and user interface design. Many of the photos used on the websites (see Portfolio) are my photos.
